Installation Instructions

Slide-Out Rangehood Installation (Under-Cabinet)

Method 1: Cabinet Installation

  1. Position the hood: Align the rangehood with the cabinet opening. Ensure the four keyhole slots on top of the hood align with your mounting position.
  2. Install mounting screws: Install 4 screws (supplied) into the cabinet according to the keyhole positions. Don't fully tighten - leave enough space for the hood to slide on.
  3. Hang the hood: Align the 4 keyholes with the screws and slide the hood into position. The screws should sit in the narrow part of the keyholes.
  4. Secure firmly: Tighten all screws completely to ensure a secure fit between hood and cabinet.
  5. Install safety screws: Add screws to the security holes to prevent forward/backward movement.

Method 2: Wall Installation

  1. Mark positions: Mark the position of 2 keyholes on the wall according to the back of the hood.
  2. Drill holes: Use the supplied wall plugs and install 2 screws, leaving space for hanging.
  3. Hang and secure: Hook the rangehood onto screws and tighten firmly.
  4. Add safety screws: Install security screws to prevent movement.

Wall-Mounted Rangehood Installation (Chimney Style)

  1. Mark reference lines: Draw a vertical center line from your cooktop to the ceiling. Mark horizontal line A at 835-935mm above cooktop.
  2. Mark mounting points:
    • Points (1): 80mm either side of center on line A
    • Points (2): 40mm either side of center on line B (see manual for X distance based on chimney type)
    • Points (3): 155mm either side of center on line C (116mm below line A)
  3. Drill and install plugs: Drill 10mm holes at marked points and insert supplied wall plugs.
  4. Mount brackets: Install 2 screws at line A (partially) and fix the chimney bracket at line B.
  5. Hook and secure hood: Hook the hood body onto line A screws, level it, then secure with screws at points (3).
  6. Install chimney: Attach lower decorative chimney to hood body, then fix upper chimney to wall bracket.

Ducting Installation Options

Extraction (Ducted) Mode

Connect the rangehood to an external vent using either flexible or rigid pipe with 120mm diameter (slide-out model) or 150mm diameter (wall-mounted model). A reducer flange is included if you need to connect to 120mm ducting.

Installation tips:

  • Keep the ducting route as short as possible for maximum efficiency
  • Use pipe clamps to secure all connections (not supplied)
  • Remove any charcoal filters if installed - they're only for recirculation mode
  • Ensure the duct exits outside and doesn't connect to any other ventilation systems

Recirculation Mode

If external venting isn't possible, install the activated charcoal filter (purchased separately) to purify and recirculate air back into the kitchen.

Note: Recirculation mode requires an air vent in the cabinet and will reduce suction power compared to ducted operation. Charcoal filters must be replaced every 4 months.

Operating Your Devanti Rangehood

Slide-Out Model Controls

  • Power: Slide the hood out to automatically turn on
  • Speed Control: Two-speed rocker switch (Low/High)
  • Lighting: Separate on/off switch for LED light
  • Auto-off: Slide hood back in to turn off automatically

Wall-Mounted Model Controls

  • Motor Off: Press to stop motor operation
  • Low Speed: First speed button
  • Medium Speed: Second speed button
  • High Speed: Third speed button
  • Light Switch: Separate button for LED on/off

Best Practices for Use

  • Turn on the rangehood before you start cooking
  • Adjust speed based on cooking intensity - use high for heavy frying or wok cooking
  • Keep the rangehood running for 5-10 minutes after cooking to clear remaining odours
  • Never leave high naked flames directly under the hood
  • Adjust flame intensity to heat the pan bottom only, not the sides

Cleaning and Maintenance Schedule

Aluminium Grease Filters

Frequency: Every 2 months (or more often with heavy use)

Cleaning procedure:

  1. Push filters toward the back of the hood while pulling downwards to remove
  2. Wash in warm soapy water or place in dishwasher
  3. Avoid bending the filters during cleaning
  4. Ensure filters are completely dry before reinstalling
  5. Reinstall with handles facing outward
Important: Filter color may change over time but this doesn't affect performance. Regular cleaning prevents fire hazards from grease buildup.

Activated Charcoal Filters (Recirculation Mode Only)

Frequency: Replace every 4 months

These filters cannot be washed or regenerated. Remove metal grease filters first, then remove the saturated charcoal filter and install a new one.

Rangehood Body

Frequency: Weekly or as needed

  • Unplug before cleaning
  • Wipe exterior with a damp cloth and neutral detergent
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch stainless steel
  • Dry immediately to prevent water marks

LED Light Replacement

Specifications: 1.5W LED module, DBS-1.5-H-33.2/120, 220-240V

  1. Disconnect power at the wall or circuit breaker
  2. Remove the metal grease filters
  3. Carefully lever the LED fitting from the hood body (may require firm pressure)
  4. Disconnect the light connector
  5. Install new LED module ensuring proper connector alignment
  6. Reinstall grease filters and restore power

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Light works but motor doesn't Blocked blades, damaged capacitor, or motor failure Check for obstructions. If clear, contact service technician for motor/capacitor replacement
Nothing works Power supply issue or damaged light Check power cord connections, test outlet, replace LED if needed
Oil leakage Poor seal at outlet or connections Remove outlet and reseal with appropriate sealant
Excessive vibration Damaged blade, loose motor, or loose mounting Check all mounting screws are tight. If vibration continues, check blade condition
Insufficient suction Hood too far from cooktop or too much ventilation Check mounting height (should be 65cm minimum). Close windows/doors near cooking area
Hood tilted Loose mounting screws Tighten all fixing and hanging screws, ensure level installation
Electrical Safety: Never attempt to repair electrical components yourself. Contact a qualified technician or Kitchen Alliance support for motor, capacitor, or wiring issues.
