Step-by-step installation instructions, maintenance schedule, and troubleshooting guide for your Devanti 60cm rangehood — covering both the slide-out under-cabinet and wall-mounted chimney models.

Slide-Out Rangehood

Under-cabinet installation with automatic slide-out operation

Wall-Mounted Rangehood

Traditional chimney style with 3-speed control

Overview: Devanti 60cm Rangehood Models

This comprehensive guide covers both Devanti 600mm rangehood models available through Kitchen Alliance. Whether you have the slide-out under-cabinet model or the wall-mounted chimney style, you'll find complete installation instructions, operating guidelines, and a full maintenance schedule here.

Both models feature powerful motors, LED lighting, and washable aluminium filters. The slide-out model suits under-cabinet installation with its automatic operation, while the wall-mounted version provides a traditional chimney-style setup with three-speed control.

Safety Requirements Before Installation

⚠ Critical Safety Information — Read Before Installing
  • Minimum clearance of 65cm required between cooktop and rangehood for gas appliances
  • Installation must comply with Australian electrical standards
  • Ensure adequate earthing for Class I appliances
  • Never connect to flues used for gas or fuel-burning appliances
  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified technician
  • The manufacturer will not be liable for damages resulting from incorrect installation

If you are not confident with electrical work, hire a licensed electrician. Incorrect installation voids your warranty and creates safety risks.

Slide-Out Rangehood Installation

The slide-out rangehood can be installed using two methods: directly into a cabinet, or mounted to a wall. Choose the method that suits your kitchen layout.

Method 1 — Cabinet Installation

  1. 1Position the hood and align the four keyhole slots on the top of the rangehood with your cabinet mounting position.
  2. 2Install the 4 supplied screws into the cabinet base according to the keyhole positions. Do not fully tighten — leave enough space for the hood to slide on.
  3. 3Hang the hood by aligning the 4 keyholes with the screws and sliding into position. The screws should sit in the narrow part of each keyhole.
  4. 4Tighten all screws completely to ensure a secure fit between the hood and the cabinet.
  5. 5Install the safety screws into the security holes to prevent forward and backward movement.

Method 2 — Wall Installation

  1. 1Mark the position of 2 keyholes on the wall according to the back of the hood.
  2. 2Drill holes, insert the supplied wall plugs, and install 2 screws leaving space for hanging.
  3. 3Hook the rangehood onto the screws and tighten firmly.
  4. 4Install security screws to prevent movement.

Wall-Mounted Rangehood Installation

The chimney-style wall-mounted model requires careful marking before drilling. Take your time on the measuring step — accurate reference lines make the rest of the install straightforward.

  1. 1Mark reference lines. Draw a vertical centre line from your cooktop to the ceiling. Mark horizontal line A at 835–935mm above the cooktop.
  2. 2Mark mounting points. Points (1): 80mm either side of centre on line A. Points (2): 40mm either side of centre on line B (see diagram for X distance based on chimney type). Points (3): 155mm either side of centre on line C, which is 116mm below line A.
  3. 3Drill and plug. Drill 10mm holes at all marked points and insert the supplied wall plugs.
  4. 4Mount brackets. Install 2 screws at line A partially, then fix the chimney bracket at line B.
  5. 5Hang and level the hood body. Hook the hood onto the line A screws, check it is level, then secure firmly with screws at points (3).
  6. 6Install chimney sections. Attach the lower decorative chimney to the hood body, then fix the upper chimney to the wall bracket.

Ducting Installation Options

Extraction (Ducted) Mode

Connect the rangehood to an external vent using either flexible or rigid pipe — 120mm diameter for the slide-out model, or 150mm diameter for the wall-mounted model. A reducer flange is included if you need to connect to 120mm ducting.

  • Keep the ducting route as short as possible for maximum extraction efficiency
  • Use pipe clamps to secure all connections (not supplied)
  • Remove any charcoal filters if installed — they are only for recirculation mode
  • Ensure the duct exits outside and does not connect to any other ventilation systems

Recirculation Mode

If external venting isn't possible, install the activated charcoal filter (purchased separately) to purify and recirculate air back into the kitchen.

Important: Recirculation mode requires an air vent in the cabinet and will reduce suction power compared to ducted operation. Charcoal filters must be replaced every 4 months — they cannot be washed or regenerated.

Operating Your Devanti Rangehood

Slide-Out Model Controls

  • Power on: Slide the hood out — it turns on automatically
  • Speed control: Two-speed rocker switch (Low / High)
  • Lighting: Separate on/off switch for the LED light
  • Power off: Slide hood back in to turn off automatically

Wall-Mounted Model Controls

  • Motor Off: Press to stop motor operation
  • Low Speed: First speed button
  • Medium Speed: Second speed button
  • High Speed: Third speed button
  • Light: Separate button for LED on/off

Best Practices for Daily Use

  • Turn on the rangehood before you start cooking
  • Adjust speed based on cooking intensity — use high for heavy frying or wok cooking
  • Keep the rangehood running for 5–10 minutes after cooking to clear remaining odours
  • Never leave high naked flames directly under the hood
  • Adjust flame intensity to heat the pan bottom only, not the sides

Cleaning and Maintenance Schedule

Aluminium Grease Filters — Every 2 Months

  1. 1Push filters toward the back of the hood while pulling downwards to remove.
  2. 2Wash in warm soapy water, or place in the dishwasher.
  3. 3Avoid bending the filters during cleaning.
  4. 4Ensure filters are completely dry before reinstalling.
  5. 5Reinstall with handles facing outward.
Note: Filter colour may change over time — this does not affect performance. Regular cleaning prevents grease buildup, which is a fire hazard.

Activated Charcoal Filters — Replace Every 4 Months

For recirculation mode only. These filters cannot be washed or regenerated. Remove the metal grease filters first, then remove the saturated charcoal filter and install a new one. Replacement filters are available from Kitchen Alliance.

Rangehood Body — Weekly

  • Unplug before cleaning
  • Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth and neutral detergent
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch stainless steel
  • Dry immediately to prevent water marks

LED Light Replacement

Specifications: 1.5W LED module (DBS-1.5-H-33.2/120), 220–240V.

  1. 1Disconnect power at the wall or circuit breaker.
  2. 2Remove the metal grease filters.
  3. 3Carefully lever the LED fitting from the hood body — this may require firm pressure.
  4. 4Disconnect the light connector.
  5. 5Install the new LED module, ensuring proper connector alignment.
  6. 6Reinstall grease filters and restore power.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Light works but motor doesn't Blocked blades, damaged capacitor, or motor failure Check for obstructions. If clear, contact a service technician for motor or capacitor replacement.
Nothing works at all Power supply issue or damaged light Check power cord connections, test the outlet, replace LED if needed.
Oil leakage Poor seal at outlet or connections Remove the outlet and reseal with appropriate sealant.
Excessive vibration Damaged blade, loose motor, or loose mounting Check all mounting screws are tight. If vibration continues, inspect blade condition.
Insufficient suction Hood too far from cooktop, or too much ventilation Check mounting height (minimum 65cm). Close windows and doors near the cooking area.
Hood tilted Loose mounting screws Tighten all fixing and hanging screws. Re-check for level installation.
⚠ Electrical Safety
  • Never attempt to repair electrical components yourself
  • Contact a qualified technician or Kitchen Alliance support for motor, capacitor, or wiring issues
