Pre-Installation Requirements
Always disconnect power before beginning installation. The minimum clearance between your cooktop surface and the rangehood must be at least 650mm for gas appliances. For electric cooktops, follow manufacturer specifications. If you are not confident with electrical work, hire a licensed electrician.
Tools You'll Need
10mm drill bit for wall anchors (anchors supplied with unit)
For securing brackets and completing the installation
Accurate measurement is critical for proper alignment
Ensures your rangehood sits perfectly horizontal
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Traditional Model (RH-D-A17-90-SR) Installation
- 1Mark your reference lines. Draw a vertical line from your cooktop centre to the ceiling. Mark horizontal line A at 835–935mm above the cooktop surface. This is where your hood will mount.
- 2Calculate chimney height. Measure distance X based on your chimney option: 400mm only (no upper line needed); 400+300mm (mark line B at 410–650mm above line A); or 400+390mm (mark line B at 410–740mm above line A).
- 3Mark drilling points. On horizontal line A, mark two points 80mm from the centre line (160mm apart total). These are your main mounting points. Mark additional points 155mm from centre on a line 116mm below line A for bottom support screws.
- 4Install wall brackets. Drill 10mm diameter holes at all marked points. Insert the supplied wall plugs. Partially screw in the top two screws (5×50mm), leaving about 5mm exposed to hang the hood.
- 5Mount the hood body. Hook the rangehood onto the partially inserted top screws. Level the unit carefully, then fully tighten the top screws. Install bottom screws through the hood into wall plugs for secure mounting.
- 6Connect ducting. For ducted installation, attach either 150mm or 120mm diameter ductwork to the top outlet. Use the supplied reducer flange if using 120mm ducting. Secure with clamps (not supplied). Keep the duct route as short and straight as possible to the exterior.
- 7Install chimney sections. Attach the lower decorative chimney to the hood body using the supplied 4.2×9.5mm screws. If using an upper chimney section, mount the chimney bracket to the wall at your marked line B, then secure the upper chimney to this bracket.
- 8Final checks. Reconnect power and test all speed settings. Check LED lights function correctly. Verify the hood is level and all screws are fully tightened.
Slim Body Model (RH-D-F49-90-SR) Installation
- 1Measure and mark. Mark a vertical centreline above your cooktop. For the 90cm model, mark two points 538mm apart (269mm each side of centre) at your desired mounting height — minimum 650mm above the cooktop.
- 2Prepare wall anchors. Drill 10mm holes at the marked points. Insert the supplied plastic wall plugs firmly into the wall.
- 3Choose venting mode. Before mounting, rotate the venting knob on top of the unit. Turn to the extraction position for ducted installation, or to the recirculation position if using carbon filters (sold separately).
- 4Mount the hood. Screw in the top mounting screws partially. Hang the hood on these screws, level it carefully, then insert and tighten all remaining screws including the bottom mounting points.
- 5Install ducting or carbon filter. For extraction mode, connect 120mm diameter ducting to the top outlet with the supplied check valve. For recirculation mode, install optional carbon filters inside the unit at the motor end.
- 6Power and test. Plug into a standard Australian power outlet. Test the touch controls at all three speed settings and verify LED lights are working correctly.
Operating Your Rangehood
Control Panel Functions
Traditional model: Features simple rocker switches for intuitive operation. Press the motor switch to cycle through three speeds or turn off. A separate switch controls the LED lighting independently.
Slim model: Touch-sensitive controls offer a modern interface with individual buttons for motor on/off, lighting on/off, and three distinct speed settings.
Choosing the Right Speed Setting
Ideal for simmering, keeping warm, or light cooking with minimal smoke production.
Perfect for everyday cooking, stir-frying, and most general kitchen ventilation needs.
Use for heavy cooking, grilling, or when dealing with significant smoke and steam.
Maintenance & Cleaning Schedule
Disconnect the rangehood from power at the wall outlet or circuit breaker before performing any maintenance or cleaning to prevent electric shock.
Aluminium Grease Filters — Every 2 Months
Clean every 2 months for normal use, or monthly for heavy cooking. The 5-layer aluminium filters are dishwasher safe or can be hand-washed with mild detergent and warm water.
- Push filters toward the back of the hood while pulling down to remove
- Wash in the dishwasher or by hand with warm soapy water
- Avoid bending filters during cleaning
- Allow to dry completely before reinstalling
Carbon Filters — Replace Every 2–3 Months
For recirculation mode only. These filters cannot be washed or regenerated. For the slim model, remove grease filters first, then twist the carbon filter counterclockwise to remove from the motor housing. Replace with a new filter.
LED Light Replacement
- 1Disconnect power at the wall outlet or circuit breaker.
- 2Remove the metal grease filters to access the light modules.
- 3Carefully lever the LED module from its fitting — this may require firm pressure.
- 4Disconnect the electrical connector.
- 5Install the new LED module (1.5W specification) and reconnect the connector.
- 6Test the light before replacing the filters.
External Cleaning — Weekly
- Wipe stainless steel surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent
- Always wipe in the direction of the grain on stainless steel surfaces
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish
Troubleshooting Common Issues
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Light works but motor doesn't | Blocked blades or damaged capacitor | Check for obstructions. If clear, a capacitor or motor replacement is required — contact Kitchen Alliance support. |
| Neither light nor motor works | Power connection issue or damaged bulb | Check power cord connection and test the outlet. Replace LED if necessary. |
| Excessive vibration | Loose mounting or damaged blade | Tighten all mounting screws. Inspect motor blades for damage. |
| Weak suction | Incorrect mounting height or excessive ventilation | Verify minimum 650mm clearance height. Close nearby windows and doors during operation. |
| Oil leakage | Improper seal at outlet or connections | Remove the outlet and reseal with appropriate sealant. |
| Hood not level | Loose fixing or hanging screws | Tighten all mounting hardware and verify with a spirit level. |
Never attempt to repair electrical components yourself. Contact a qualified technician or Kitchen Alliance support for motor, capacitor, or wiring issues.

Final Recommendations
Both Devanti 900mm rangehoods offer excellent value for Australian homeowners. The traditional RH-D-A17-90-SR suits standard kitchen installations with its adjustable chimney and reliable rocker controls. The slim RH-D-F49-90-SR is the better choice if you need more powerful 125W extraction in a contemporary package with touch controls.
Either way, proper installation and regular maintenance — clean filters every 2 months, wipe exteriors weekly, maintain minimum 650mm clearance — will ensure years of effective kitchen ventilation.
