Universal Safety Requirements

Critical Safety Information - All Models:
  • Minimum clearance: 65cm between cooktop and rangehood for gas appliances (60-75cm recommended for optimal performance)
  • Electrical: Must be connected to properly earthed 220-240V AC, 50Hz power supply
  • Ventilation: Never connect to flues used for gas or fuel-burning appliances
  • Installation: Must be performed by qualified electrician and competent installer
  • Damaged cables: Must be replaced by manufacturer or qualified technician
  • Room ventilation: Adequate room ventilation required when used with gas appliances (negative pressure must not exceed 0.04 mbar)
Important Usage Warnings:
  • Never leave high naked flames under the hood during operation
  • Adjust flame intensity to heat pan bottom only, not sides
  • Monitor deep fat fryers continuously - overheated oil can ignite
  • Clean filters regularly to prevent fire hazard from grease buildup
  • Children aged 8+ may use under supervision; younger children must be kept away
  • Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances

Installation Instructions by Model

60cm & 90cm Wall-Mounted Installation

Step 1: Mark Wall Reference Lines

  1. Vertical center line: Draw from cooktop center to ceiling
  2. Horizontal line A: Mark at 835-935mm above cooktop (installation height)
  3. Horizontal line B: Mark above line A based on chimney type (see table below)
  4. Horizontal line C: Mark 116mm below line A
Chimney Option Distance X (Line B above Line A)

120cm Commercial BBQ Hood Installation

Commercial Model Differences: The 120cm model features twin motors, LCD display, adjustable height (700-1100mm), and includes 2 x 2m fireproof aluminum exhaust ducts. Installation follows similar principles but requires more robust mounting.

Commercial Installation Steps:

  1. Marking: Use spirit level to mark vertical center line and horizontal mounting line (minimum 650mm above cooktop, maximum 750mm for optimal performance)
  2. Remove filters: Take out all filters before hanging to reduce weight
  3. Mounting: Hang rangehood onto expansion bolts, ensure horizontal alignment with spirit level
  4. Secure: Tighten all expansion bolts through keyhole slots
  5. Test electrical: Verify voltage matches appliance (220-240V), ensure power cord is secured away from sharp edges
  6. Ducting: Attach 2 x 150mm fireproof aluminum ducts using ST3x8mm screws
  7. Chimney: Install two-part telescopic duct cover - fasten lower chimney with ST4x6mm screws, secure upper bracket with ST4x55mm screws, extend to height and fix with ST4x8mm screws
  8. Final check: Remove protective film, reinstall filters, test all functions
Commercial Model Note: The 120cm BBQ hood is rated for heavy-duty use with twin 218W motors. Ensure electrical circuit can handle 440W power consumption. Professional installation strongly recommended.

Ducting Options: Extraction vs Recirculation

Extraction (Ducted) Mode - Recommended

Air is expelled outside through ducting. This is the most effective method for removing smoke, steam, and odors.

  • Duct diameter: 150mm preferred (120mm acceptable with reducer flange)
  • Duct type: Rigid or flexible fire-retardant ducting
  • Route: Keep as short and straight as possible - every bend reduces efficiency
  • Exit point: Must vent to outside air, not into attic, wall cavity, or other ventilation systems
  • Installation: Use pipe clamps to secure all connections

Recirculation Mode

Air is filtered and returned to the kitchen. Use only when external ducting is not possible.

  • Required: Activated charcoal filter (purchased separately)
  • Performance: Reduced suction power compared to ducted operation
  • Maintenance: Replace charcoal filter every 4 months
  • Installation: Remove any installed charcoal filters when using ducted mode
Important: Recirculation mode is less effective than ducted extraction. It filters grease and odors but returns moisture to the kitchen. Always choose ducted installation when possible.

Operating Your Devanti Rangehood

60cm & 90cm Models - Button Controls
